Ann Lawlor was first elected as a Ward 4 representative to Council in 2010 and served three terms before winning election as Mayor of Halton Hills in 2022.
Before taking public office, Ann's career included 10 years as an account executive in a family-owned marketing company; five years as director of a social service agency; and three years managing her own consulting business.
Ann believes in thinking globally while acting locally. She sees opportunities and brings people together to make a difference.
Ann knows from experience that big things can happen in small towns!
Ann's long-time passion for effective government is grounded in a master's degree in public administration.
Our Town, Our Vision
- We protested a unilateral provincial decision to expand urban sprawl and eliminate agricultural lands. The province reversed course, restoring the boundaries our council wanted.
- With other GTA mayors, Ann lobbied the province for the power to levy significant fines and shut down illegal truck yards. New laws and fines are being introduced.
Safety First
- A new Fire Master Plan was approved, along with dedicated funding, to improve the ranks of our professional firefighters and keep us safe.
- A new, state-of-the-art Halton Region Police Station opened in our community. The police budget has grown significantly and crime rates are down in 2026.

- Our Town is more beautiful and healthy with new federal and regional funding to clean up our waterways such as Fairy Lake and tree planting on our streets and parklands.
- Ann created a new Agricultural Round Table with members of our farm community to promote rural affairs and a healthy countryside.

- With important new construction of health care facilities on the horizon, Ann and council are setting aside funds. North Halton Hospice, Bennett Centre long-term care expansion, and a new Georgetown Hospital will be supported.
